I have been working at Nordstrom

Pros

assistant manager title: leadership, chance to grow, discount, create your own tentative schedule.

Company: Amazing "family." The Nordstrom Culture is unique and caring. The tone set by corporate and leadership is unlike anyone else. Overall amazing place to work.

Cons

lots of hours during peak times in the year.

Advice to ManagementAdvice

more reviews for managers to showcase strengths. sometimes I feel like there is too much focus on the sales associates, and managers lose out on some chances to grow.

    I worked at Nordstrom

    Pros

opportunity to take on additional responsibilities
ability and encouragement to take control of your own success- computer program allows you to maintain and grow relationships with customers

    Cons

sales associates in most departments (as far as i know) rely strictly on commission, so you really have to stay on top of your game at all times because just like in any retail store, there are slow days and you have to find a way to sell if you want to make money and stay in managements good graces.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Nordstrom thoroughly prepares you to work there. training typically consists of 3 days in which a representative familiarizes you with the corporate history and culture, reviews general employee protocol and guidelines, and teaches you how to use the computers

    I worked at Nordstrom

    Pros

It's a fun place with great fashion and you earn pretty good money!

    Cons

I can only complain about working mall hours until 9pm and when the store closes you organize your department and close your register by the time you leave it's 10pm.
    And working on weekends.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

My manage was great and understanding. Would always find a way to accommodate his team with scheduling.
