Fun in that the job is social, very hard work, well paid. Have worked 18 hours straight on sale days

    I worked at Nordstrom

    Pros

opportunity to make amazing wages, generally a college degree not needed to achieve

    Cons

Management everywhere, very young and immature with too much power, Nordstrom family is much less ethical than they pretend to be. Nordstrom uses statistics for everything now, and misses the pulse because of this, much more often than they used to.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Please remember that you must make your own decisions, not to allow people under to control you, as you as a manager are no doubt young, and the sales people are highly evolved socially. they will manipulate you with amazing charm, which is in the long run very distructive to your career, and leads many many young managers to failure. I have watched this happen many times.

    I worked at Nordstrom

    Pros

Everyone is very personable and friendly. The commission pay is a great incentive to sell. The sales are great opportunities to make money. You get the whole history of Nordstrom and how it came about. Also a company I would be proud to work for

    Cons

Very competitive environment because of commission. A lot of the staff is older and it is their primary income.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

The length of time someone has worked for Nordstrom should not gain them "seniority." Great training sessions, the history was very interesting and helpful to learn
