I worked at Nordstrom full-time (more than an year)

Pros

They train you in customer service and it helps when looking for jobs after you leave because they know you have great customer service skills.

Cons

If you work part time it takes twice as long to get a pay raise. Which sucks, I would rather have it be based on merit because people who are ranked below you make more money than you do.

I have been working at Nordstrom full-time (less than an year)

    Pros

The atmosphere, the management, the job in it's entirety. Employees are super friendly, usually because they want you to

    Cons

Trying to make your sph in a department that is dead after 5pm is next to impossible. But you get in trouble for not making it but yet the excuse "No one was in my dept after 5" doesn't work.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Adjust SPH to fit traffic patterns through the day. Yes your level 4 pacesetters and allstars are able to make their goals because they have the best shifts, duh!

I worked at Nordstrom full-time (more than an year)

    Pros

Really good place to start, and a great job as a college students. Provides a really quick learning curve and a competitive area to work in.

    Cons

Being fully-commission based salaried, there are times it's hard to put the customers best interest first. You have to think about how every decision effects you as an individual.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Try to be more open with employees and more aware of issues.
