Pros

Opportunity to grow and improve sales.

Cons

Hours are not always the best. Management barley knows what they are doing. Hard during slow months.

    Pros

General high end products, nice place to work aesthetically, mostly great customers

    Cons

Young, inexperienced management with "power" complexes, commission enviroment for managers as well creates lack of support as a sales person. Managers are too motivated to sell to insure that the department is running well and sales people can do their jobs as they need to.

    Advice to Management

Stop creating "Elitist" attitude amongst managers. Managers are told they are better than their employees as opposed to being taught to build a supportive, cohesive team. Stop promoting people who are great sellers only - this does not translate to a good manager - these people need to have "big picture" mentality and most of them do not. Many are so young - they are ill prepared to manage anyone.

  2. Commission sales can be very stressful.

    Pros

Good benefits, potential to make good money and work your way up in company quickly.

    Cons

Very competitive, some conflict of interest involved between management and sales persons. Not a very flexible schedule. Managers are rewarded with promotions strictly by numbers, the way they treat their sales staff isn't taken into consideration necessarily which can create some difficult work environments. Very concerned with numbers and competition against other Nordstrom's within their region.
