I worked at Nordstrom (more than 8 years)

    Pros

Management encouraged to run department as own business.

    Cons

Selling employees and selling managers so focused on sales, they do not give same attention to processes and procedures. Many lazy selling employees standing around clerking instead of working and actually selling. Company changing so often, makes it seem they can't figure out what works.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Realize that your employees are not only your greatest strength, but also your greatest weakness. More accountability to selling managers/teams on adhereing to inventory processes and procedures. Do not focus only on sales results.
