Pros

You have the ability to make as much as you want. Everything is commission based, and during seasonal peaks paychecks can be HUGE. Typically managers are flexible and there is tons of room for internal promotion within the company.

Cons

If you do not make your sales goals, you can get fired. There is not really a ton of job security if you are not willing to work for it. During seasonal peaks, expect to work long hours.

Advice to ManagementAdvice

Reach out to employees more. They may not always be willing to discuss their gripes about their manager with you.

    Pros

The discounts at all Nordstrom stores, including Nordstrom rack is very nice. Your experience will depend on your manager and your ability to get a long with others.

    Cons

Sometimes your manager isn't great, but if you try your hardest to please them, they'll probably like you.

I worked at Nordstrom part-time (more than a year)

    Pros

Nordstrom really cares about your happiness within the company. It is also very easy to move up once you are in. Nordstrom cares about the experience with their customers, which is why customer service is their main priority. Not only do they emphasize great customer service but also maintaining lasting relationships with those customers. As for employees, all are treated equally and with respect. They make it priority to make sure you are enjoying yourself while working.

    Cons

My only con would be that sometimes as a sales associate, you can get lost in such a large company. As an employee, you have to make it a priority to get to know other associates and managers in other departments. Another thing, I wouldn't say a "con" technically, but it is sometimes hard to ask off certain dates due to the high business volume throughout weekends and holidays.
