    Pros

Nordstrom is a great name to have on a resume and in my experience, human resources really focuses on helping you grow within the company.

    Cons

In sales, the hours are often cut back and there are definitely some slow times which is difficult when trying to save money.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Management is generally great as long as they continue to work with their employees and help teach them and grow.

I worked at Nordstrom full-time for more than a year

    Pros

Created relationships with friendly repeat customers who valued your opinions and advice.

    Cons

Commission only. No base pay. The co-workers in your own department are sharks, and will steal your sales at any given chance. The department manager was Cruella Deville (and extremely bi-polar). No return policy, meaning the customers can return anything and everything, and it is taken off your sales. You can walk in for the day and already be $2000 in the hole. Many days you don't make enough to pay for the gas to get to work. Completely inconsistent paychecks. The department manager will look for ways to fire people who bring concerns to Human Resources.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Be aware that your department managers may not be completely honest people.
