Proud to have worked there, but they were not flexible toward a quality of life outside of work.

I worked at Nordstrom full-time (more than an year)

Pros

Brand recognition. Everyone loves Nordstrom.

Cons

Very competitive atmosphere that tends to lend employees' to gravitate toward cliques that are not welcoming to newcomers.

Advice to ManagementAdvice

Do not promise things you can't deliver just to get someone hired. For instance, I was promised flexibility to go back to school. Yet come the time to return, my department manager was not willing to give a set schedule for me to make it to class.

I have been working at Nordstrom part-time (more than 3 years)

    Pros

Part-time benefits include 401k (and even a contribution/match), paid time off, paid holidays, and decent pay. Good opportunities to network and meet many people. Overall laid-back and professional environment.

    Cons

Quite a bureaucratic place to work - not exactly easy to enhance your career unless a manager favors you.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Managers shouldn't pick favorites or disregard talent/hard work. Our store manager was quite pompous, undiplomatic, and not very bright.

    No opinion of CEO
