I have been working at Nordstrom as an intern (less than a year)

    Pros

I have learned so much during the internship. Interns are treated with respect and our opinions are highly valued. I have gotten an opportunity to meet some great people and highly recommend this internship to anyone who like to be a buyer one day.

    Cons

The only negative thing I can say is just about the location. I hate Seattle but love the company!

Current Employee - Shoe Salesman in Chicago, IL

I have been working at Nordstrom full-time (more than 3 years)

    Pros

Nordstrom is a place that you can grow. It's a fashion forward company that strong believes in promoting from within. You are encouraged to move up in the company and offer programs to get you headed in that direction. Work culture is amazing.

    Cons

As a salesperson, you are challenged to meet your goals due to competition from other salesman and the lack of customers shopping on a daily basis. That's retail in general.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

There are employees who lose insurance every other month or so because of not working the minimum hours. Some of those really need the care. If you miss the month, you have to go another month or so before you are eligible again. There should be a way to fix that.
