I have been working at Nordstrom full-time (less than a year)

Pros

Nordstrom is determined to be a leader in the industry. They already have customer service and full price sales figured out. They're working hard to improve the rest. The tech team has struggles, but they're working through it- not just driving hard down the wrong path. I feel good working for Nordstrom.

Cons

The technology has a long way to go. The systems are old and homegrown. Tech leadership is in flux and always seems to be.

Keep moving. We're not there yet, but I'm optimistic!

I worked at Nordstrom full-time (more than 3 years)

    Pros

For many employees, it is relatively easy to enter management, and the company can compensate well with salary + commission. Great environment with the right leaders in place.

    Cons

Many managers are inexperienced and not trained. If they are not self-starters, their promotion may set them up to fail. Although there are many great leaders and strong culture, there is little supervision that an individual may have a poor experience based on their direct report.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Invest in employee retention, instead of placing people into roles and hoping it works. More time spent on learning and development for employees and managers.
