I have been working at Nordstrom full-time (more than 3 years)

Pros

Great pay and decent benefits. Reasonable discount.

Cons

You're never really in control of your own department and you get blamed for their mistakes. There are a lot of no win situations. Also they constantly hire outside the company. You have to be a butt kisser with upper management or know someone well enough to ever be considered to move up or move to another department or store.

Advice to ManagementAdvice

Hire your own, experienced workers for management positions. be smarter than the numbers, you can't efficiently run a department based purely off of data.

I have been working at Nordstrom full-time (more than 3 years)

    Pros

Retail hours, you could spend the whole day volunteering at your child's school, the pay, the employees, the company ethics, the Nordy culture, goal setting

    Cons

Retail hours, commute, some employees found it hard to meet the sales goals, other employees didn't like coming in too early before the store opened

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Keep up the good work!! Teach sales people that every customer can be a Nordstrom customer and they should be treated as such.
