Former Intern - Retail Management Intern in Walnut Creek, CA
Former Intern - Retail Management Intern in Walnut Creek, CA

I worked at Nordstrom as an intern (less than a year)

Pros

The Retail Management Internship Program was amazing. I loved the Nordstrom culture and I was very well taken care of. My manager was very passionate in her work and taught me how to grow a business.

Cons

The quality of the internship varies between each store. Luckily, I was placed in a store that was very supportive of their interns. Interns from other stores had a bad experience. Also, I wished I could learn even more about the managerial side than feeling like a sales associate 65% of the time.

Advice to ManagementAdvice

Keep it consistent. Let interns learn more about Nordstrom and the business than just selling.

I have been working at Nordstrom part-time (more than a year)

    Pros

I am very fortunate and grateful for the opportunity to work at Nordstrom, which is one of the most successful specialty retailers in the business

    Cons

The Bad: Returns can affect your paycheck and your sales goals. Since Nordstrom is high on the customer service reputation, their return policy is very liberal so 99.99% of the time merchandise can be brought back and credited toward the selling employee.
