I have been working at Nordstrom full-time for more than 5 years

    Pros

I think if you worked at a bigger door then there would be a lot on Pros, smaller doors really have to fight.

    Cons

the amount of work you put in doesn't match the paycheck. Nordstrom doesn't believe in a cost of living raise. Working on straight commission, not being supported. Retaliation, treated unfairly.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

If there is going to be an open door policy then it should be upheld. Look at your PTR reports closely, you have a huge number of people fighting to keep thier houses and pay the bills, plus on assistance.
Why are you promoting people who can't even use the share drive, and proven all they can do is sell.
Isn't the point of a manager to coach, lead and support?

Intense environment, people take themselves way to serious for it being a retail position.

I worked at Nordstrom full-time for more than a year

    Pros

    Great compensation.
Peers were fun to work with, a lot of young people.

    Cons

Management is "sharky," they want to sell more than they want to teach and lead.
Sales floor environment is unorganized and overly competitive.
Schedule expectations are high and time off is practically unmentionable.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Be more of a leader on the floor.
Facilitate team selling with yourself and a younger sales associate rather than swiping them and then saying " I told you so."

    Doesn't Recommend
    Negative Outlook
    No opinion of CEO
