    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Management personnel should have enough experience to be competent and your employees would like to feel valued not just a numbered cog in a giant machine.

    I worked at Northrop Grumman

    Pros

Among aerospace and defense sector contractors, it has a dynamic and imaginative executive bench who are very strategic in thinking. It attracts imaginative talent to work on leading edge projects. It contributes to the well being of active duty military personnel and their families, hires veterans, has an active K-12 program in STEM education, and has created work sites in rural locations of high unemployment.

    Cons

Mid management ranks are in need to improvement. Their leadership skills are weak and uninspiring at best.. Many mid-level managers have a style that is stuck mid-century, Information is often stopped at this level and parsed out sparingly as if employees are outsiders.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Mid-level management (Director level and below) need to "certified" as leaders with 360 degree feedback mandatory. Your mid-level managers are the ones who keep your new hires engaged and retained or discouraged and anxious to leave. Your mid-level managers are too busy trying to "manage up" playing office politics rather than helping their teams succeed and adding value.
