No opinion of CEO

I have been working at Northrop Grumman full-time (More than 10 years)

Pros

Large Organization with lots of opportunities across many disciplines.... if you are willing to pursue them on your own and you don't rely on just your manager to identify opportunities Many engineers that are very dedicated to the craft and are the heart and soul of the organization Some of the functional managers care very much for the welfare of the employees and for the business - be sure to look out for them and try to work for them or at least with them...

Cons

Large Organization... very political - step carefully Some very opinionated senior staff that yields much influence, some are willing to open up to new ideas, many are not

Advice to Management

Hire 1st line and middle managers that truly care for the employees and want the best for the company. They keep an engaged workforce. Watch for those that are getting into those positions just to move up the chain... they cause some of the active disengagement by demotivating the workforce by too much change and little continuity.

    Pros

cutting edge technologies, interesting programs, super smart workers, dedicated people, diverse working group, old and wise ones to learn from, new and energetic college hires.

    Cons

management structure is changing. ten years ago, this was a great place to work from the top down. they have since brought in new upper management, and things have gradually become more internally political. makes me NOT want to be a manager.

    Advice to Management

The company is too top heavy. We have too many layers of management. And, constraints you're putting on your homeroom managers is making us lose our best people.
