I worked at Northrop Grumman full-time

Pros

Northrop works to keep people employed, moving them to different programs when current programs wrap up.

Cons

Keeping your salary advancing requires that one only stays there for 3-4 years max before moving to a different company. Same as all aerospace companies.

Advice to Management

Spend more time planning and tracking detail-level work. Do it carefully, and have it done by someone who really knows the task, not just whoever you can get a team to give up.

    Neutral Outlook
    No opinion of CEO

I have been working at Northrop Grumman as an intern (Less than a year)

    Pros

Northrop spends a lot of time and money on their internship program. They facilitate camaraderie among interns by providing numerous speaker/lunch/travel opportunities . If you are ambitious and hardworking, you can land a meaningful project worth writing about on your resume. Overall, I had a great experience at Northrop. Every other Friday is off and the hourly wage is very competitive!

    Cons

The company is slow and stogy. If you do not align ideologically with the defense industry, you may find yourself in an uncomfortable position. Your internship experience is highly contingent upon your managers enthusiasm for the program. First weeks can be slow... but it takes initiative to make your experience worthwhile!

I worked at Northrop Grumman full-time (More than 10 years)

    Pros

Educational Opportunities for life long learning are highly encouraged and supported.

    Cons

Limited career growth, salary increases plateau (essentially amount to a COLA), which barely keep pace with inflationary pressures -driving the perception that you are moving backwards annually.

    Advice to Management

Hold on to your talent...There are many incentives that can be leveraged but the one that always speaks the loudest in terms of an employees perception of value to the organization are wages. Even in today's economic uncertainty their is no sound logic in investing in your talent pool only to have them ensure your competition succeeds.
