Great co-workers, and lots of opportunities!

Software Engineer (Current Employee) Orlando, FL

ProsGood benefits; lots of opportunities to work on pretty cool stuff that benefits the US military (and others)! If you're willing to relocate, NG has lots of opportunities across the company, and seems to do a good job of enabling employees to move to a new job/place.

Cons- As a defense contractor, NG follows the highs and lows of defense work -- right now defense is shrinking, as seen by lots of defense contractors (Lockheed Martin, NG, Raytheon, etc.) having layoffs.
- If you want to work on cool commercial stuff, a defense contractor isn't the place.
- For software developers, not a lot of decent process in place across the company, nor decent training company-wide for developers.

Yes, I would recommend this company to a friend

Pros: Very innovative company with growth potential for many. Cons: Too many levels of management for each sector. No, I would not recommend this company to a friend More

A good place to start a career but a lot of luck is necessary to reach the best programs and upper echelon.

Software Engineer II (Former Employee) Baltimore, MD

I worked at Northrop Grumman full-time for more than a year

Pros: As a large company it provides various opportunities for engineers early in their careers to try out different roles and a position that fits with… Cons: Access to the best opportunities requires a combination of luck and ninja networking tactics to get noticed by senior engineers or program managers. Top performers… Advice to Senior Management: Streamline the process for approval of research projects and submission for outside publication. The performance review process should be administered by a direct supervisor… Yes, I would recommend this company to a friend – I'm not optimistic about the outlook for this company… More
