Current Employee - Program Manager  in  Sacramento, CA
Current Employee - Program Manager in Sacramento, CA

I have been working at Northrop Grumman full-time for more than 3 years

Pros

Quick program integration, leadership and management opportunities. Previous experience is acknowledged and leveraged to manage and impact several important department of defense programs within your scope of expertise. A high tech company with a good mix of experience and new (fresh) engineering personnel/ideas. Great people and good working environment.

Cons

Vague organizational structure (at mid level) with unclear responsibilities often makes you feel that program management of projects, and processes is in chaos and that important business development opportunities are being missed/mal-managed with inefficient coordination with the customer.

Advice to ManagementAdvice

Concise and well understood organizational structures with responsibilities on paper and in actual execution is critical to efficient operations, personnel job satisfaction and optimum performance.

I have been working at Northrop Grumman full-time for more than 10 years

    Pros

Lots of challenging work at the system of systems company. Lots of training opportunities for those willing to invest their spare time in classwork or company initiatives. Decent budget for job-related classes.

    Cons

We are working in an austere environment. Lower costs are more important than a technical improvement. New processes evolve fast and require management intervention during "upgrades."

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

keep a balance of low volume satellite business expertise vs aircraft high volume business.
