I have been working at Northrop Grumman full-time for more than 5 years

    Pros

NG is very flexible with schedules. There are core hours, but as long as you cover those you can arrange your schedule to suit your life. I work early hours to avoid traffic, and I know a lot of younger employees that work late hours so they can go straight to the clubs and bars after work and still have time to sleep before coming in the next day.

    Cons

The HR department will do everything they can to under pay you when you start and once they do the only way to catch back up is to leave the company. If you are thinking of hiring in, don't believe them if they say that the pay the first year will be low, but that raises come quickly. It is simply a lie.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

If you want to put an end to the insane turnover, learn to pay your employees a market wage.

Pretty good work-life balance but relatively low pay and very limited opportunities for growth

I have been working at Northrop Grumman full-time for more than 3 years

    Pros

Surrounded by friendly, smart people, the work (of the company although not always of the individual) is meaningful and important. The navy and airforce customers are highly professional and knowledgeable. Work-life balance is one of the best aspects of the job with 9/80 (every other Friday off) schedule and a "work whenever to get your job done by the deadline" mentality.

    Cons

Funding issues, contract issues, poor management have gotten progressively worse over the 4 years of working here. Even work-life balance has suffered as people get laid off and contracts are bid at lowest possible price. Non-existent raises and promotions, very limited training opportunities (mostly online classes and brown bags).
