I have been working at Northrop Grumman full-time for more than 5 years

Pros

Technology, some really smart people, smaller sites have a family like style

Cons

Harmonization is just another word for reducing benefits with no warning.

Advice to ManagementAdvice

Focus on services corp can provide not cost reduction. If the burp racy is less the costs will follow. And if processes were less draconian engineers might follow them.

A mixed bag overall, although that may just have been the location I was at

I worked at Northrop Grumman as an intern for less than a year

    Pros

As an intern, I was paid reasonably well and was given real work, and a 2 person office on top of that. Some of the people there were very knowledgeable in a variety of domains.

    Cons

Some of the people there did not have basic knowledge of programming constructs in their projects.
Being an intern, I did not expect to receive phone calls over the weekend for basic problems.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Some independent code review would be helpful.

I have been working at Northrop Grumman full-time for more than 5 years

    Pros

NG is very flexible with schedules. There are core hours, but as long as you cover those you can arrange your schedule to suit your life. I work early hours to avoid traffic, and I know a lot of younger employees that work late hours so they can go straight to the clubs and bars after work and still have time to sleep before coming in the next day.

    Cons

The HR department will do everything they can to under pay you when you start and once they do the only way to catch back up is to leave the company. If you are thinking of hiring in, don't believe them if they say that the pay the first year will be low, but that raises come quickly. It is simply a lie.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

If you want to put an end to the insane turnover, learn to pay your employees a market wage.
