Former Employee - Senior Optical Engineer in Devens, MA

I worked at Northrop Grumman full-time (more than 5 years)

Pros

Access to other technology leaders to exchange and develop new technologies. Very good resource pool for developing aerospace optics to tap from. Pay was more than competitive.

Cons

Health care benefits were subpar to broader industry and especially so compared to other industries. Getting papers and presentations approved for publication can be extremely frustrating and time consuming. In these lean times for government spending, don't expect there to be a lot of growth.

Advice to ManagementAdvice

Expand beyond being strong dependence on government contracts.

Wonderful. However, I was let go because of inner-office harassment by a co-worker.

Former Employee - Senior Administrative Assistant in Rancho San Diego, CA

I worked at Northrop Grumman as a contractor (more than a year)

    Pros

Great pay. Professional work environment. HR could use some growth on treating all employees equal regardless if they are permanent or contract.

    Cons

If you are a contract employee you are guaranteed to be treated less than equal.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Pay attention to inner-office harassment claims because they are real. If a employee is on a contract, they should still have the same rights as permanent employees, and should not be bullied by others. In that sense, there was very little professionalism.

I have been working at Northrop Grumman full-time (more than 10 years)

    Pros

There is nothing to beat the mission of what we do. It's very gratifying to do this kind of work.

    Cons

Their matrix structure is terrible. They have terrible taste in picking front line and middle managers. The benefits have been going down hill too.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Fix the benefits, fire the managers.
