I worked at Northrop Grumman full-time (more than 10 years)

    Pros

The people I worked with is what made it great. I have many life long friends and professional contacts from my years of working there.

    Cons

In recent years there was a tendency to have too many layers of management and not enough workers, although it did allow me the opportunity to broaden my work experience.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

    Reduce the layers of management.

I have been working at Northrop Grumman full-time (more than a year)

    Pros

Resources, Evolving focus on talent development, Leadership with technical backgrounds, True desire to build value and quality and to innovate. Very few people issues I've seen.

    Cons

Most work is with Govt contracting agencies who are typically wholly incompetent as an organization. There are too many layers on the customer side between the true customer (the soldier/airman) and the developer (NG). There will be a few who "get it" but the Draconian govt process will erode away at the final product only to leave the blame on the contractor. This can be frustrating and you must maintain optimism and find the ones who "get it".

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

From the Division Leadership level, upwards, you are not getting the whole picture which is why some of you struggle with why certain things will not change. Our well developed processes are the very thing holding back the folk in the trenches.
