I worked at Northrop Grumman full-time (more than 10 years)

    Pros

Ample training, good benefits, nobody really cares about productivity so you won't feel any pressure, good place to work if you have a heart condition.

    Cons

Poor communication, a sense of going nowhere, executive bonus plans creates a culture of haves and have nots. Leadership of over promoted administrative types, very poor on the technical side, consider other companies that invest in technology. be ready to spend inordinate time on the latest good idea from a management seminar.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

be engaged, many of your top managers are just talking heads who do no real work.

Current Employee - Systems Engineer in San Diego, CA

I have been working at Northrop Grumman full-time

    Pros

    Decent pay and benefits
    Varied work task

    Cons

Frenzied environment due to poorly planned management
Poor hiring practices allow nepotism and unqualified friends of managers to be hired
Poor engagement due to lack of process, management resistance to change, no mentoring, and little chance for promotion. In my group, you have to be a Navy officer or former friend of one to move up. Ethics is questionable.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Learn how to hire people with the charisma to make a difference, groom, and promote people.
