Pros

strong benefit package, flexible hours, consistent feedback, tuition disbursement, and alot of other things i could mention if i wanted to.

Cons

small world hard to see what other parts of the sector or NG as a whole due to the nature of many programs.

Advice to Management

a flatter management structure would probably benefit transparency from the grunts up the chain and allow for more cross pollination.

    Pros

Flexible schedule; lots of opportunities to work on different projects; relatively stable business; exciting products; your work actually makes a difference in the world.

    Cons

Might be hard to get promoted based on merit rather than sheer amount of experience. Sometimes projects get turned on and off without notice, so you have to be flexible.

    Advice to Management

Need a more well-implemented and followed plan for promotion and career development. Don't get caught in the contractor mindset - support your best talent and do not tolerate the "old boys club."

    Pros

good place for engineers -- interesting problems
good support structures for employees -- human resources and career development resources available.
good place for networking -- lots of groups that cross program and job title lines if you are willing to step outside your comfort zone

    Cons

finding a job can depend on who you know although most functional managers do try to help you find the next project
    too much overtime
you can get trapped on bad projects where managers won't let you go to another program.

    Advice to Management

try giving your lower level employees more recognition.
should pay for some of the community promotion activities that you ask employees to do as volunteer work.
