Current Employee - Mechanical Engineer in Sunnyvale, CA
Current Employee - Mechanical Engineer in Sunnyvale, CA
Approves of CEO

Pros

They are not interested in rapid turnover of employees. They will give you lots of responsibility. They value loyalty, while understanding personal needs. You can work on a diverse number of projects at once. Good benefits and stability from the larger Corporation.

Cons

No big contracts this year (although they may have some in the next year). Available skills training is mostly geared toward skills that would be used in the defense industry. Their funding is subject to federal and Navy administration. Long product development timelines.

Advice to Management

To the older generation, job stability meant that you could stay at the same job for a long time. To the newer generation, job stability means being able to keep your job skills current and valuable so that WHEN you have to change employers, which is often these days, it will not be very difficult.

    Pros

Stable Job associated with government contract related jobs, 9 to 5 work shift typical. Not too stressful and moderate work load at times.

Promotion may be limited unless you are a top performer. Salary and benefits are average compared to other similar jobs in the market.

    Advice to Management

The leadership varies depending on who the supervisor is, so it is good to know who you are working for and will report to.
