    Pros

    - Enormous Opportunity
    - Fantastic Support/Education
    - Healthy Environment
    - A Company focused on doing the right thing
    - Building strong relationships with clients

Working for Northwestern Mutual is less of a job than a career. It takes a lot of energy, commitment, and guts to get off the ground. However, the training and education provided is fantastic. This is the first life insurance company I have worked for but so far I am very pleased with the level of support and guidance I've received.

The biggest factor for me when choosing this career was the leadership. The management in our office is fantastic. They care deeply for us younger Financial Representatives and continually work to find ways to help us succeed. Ultimately, though, success is up to you.

Northwestern Mutual has the highest ratings of life insurance companies by A.M. Best, Moody's, S&P, and Fitch. This makes selling Northwestern Mutual a breeze. When the company you represent ranks #1 by the top rating agencies, most of the work has already been done for you.

    Cons

    - Challenging to start a career
    - A sales position
    - There's a stigma to the industry that you have to overcome

As with any sales position, getting started in a community is difficult. No matter the amount of training and education the company provides, sales positions are never easy. Truly, you never do "sell" anyone; they sell themselves. Your job is to communicate effectively and offer accurate financial guidance to your clients.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Continue to provide clear vision and excellent support.
