Pros

NM really cares about its clients and everyone that works for this company wants to have a positive impact on their lives. For the right person, the financial representative career is an incredible way to do well by doing good.

Cons

If you are not someone who wants to be in sales or a client facing career, this is definitely not the right oppotunity for you. People who are successful here are extremely motivated, competitive and entrepreneurial.

I worked at Northwestern Mutual as an intern (less than a year)

    Pros

The pros of working at Northwestern Mutual is that it is an excellent professional experience that teaches you valuable skills like time management and interpersonal skills. There is also a heavy emphasis on personal responsibility.

    Cons

Although there was a $100 weekly stipend the rest of pay is completely based on commission. There is also a great deal of prospecting and sometimes even cold calling which I personally did not enjoy.

    Advice to Management

Have a positive attitude and good work ethic.
