Review of Northwestern Mutual

Former Intern - Anonymous Intern
Former Intern - Anonymous Intern

I worked at Northwestern Mutual as an intern

Pros

Northwestern Mutual's management is very supportive of the interns and the learning process that you have to go through with this job.

Cons

The only problem I would see with this career is the limited growth possibilities, because the skills you gain and lisences only apply to this field.

    Pros

A mutual insurance company. Northwestern Mutual is one of the most, if not the most, stable employer in the Milwaukee area.

    Cons

Northwestern Mutual has been paring back its benefits package. The company pension, in particular, has been nearly eliminated.

    Advice to Management

Bring salaries more in line with the rest of Milwaukee's job market.

    Pros

Freedom to work by your schedule, unlimited earning potential, exceptional training program, out visiting clients 80% of the day instead of sitting at a desk.

    Cons

Uncomfortable getting used to if you're not sociable or scared of making phone calls. 100% commision which makes it tough to get started, but once you're going you can make unbelievable amounts of income.

    Advice to Management

Nothing, absolutely a breath of fresh air coming from "Corporate America"
