I have been working at Northwestern Mutual full-time (more than 10 years)

Pros

Over rewards successful PROSPECTORS...it's a wonderful business if you are able to work 70 hrs/week for the first couple of years. Be able to operate at a very high integrity level. Represent a company with products as good as any other and much better than most.

Cons

Even tho there is great training, you have to be a self-starter and be willing to overcome loads of rejection.

Advice to ManagementAdvice

Stay the course. The NM system, integrity, and extreme sense of mutuality create the superior products and services.

    I worked at Northwestern Mutual

    Pros

Flexible schedule, pay is based on performance, great opportunity to succeed, nice working environment, many entry level positions and the company itself offer great employee benefits

    Cons

It is all commission based salary, requires you to operate on your own leads and cold calls, more of a competitive environment than team oriented, everyone's schedule is different makes it difficult to communicate with fellow employees

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Better mentoring for those who are not used to an entrepreneur type position
