Not enough space

I worked at Northwestern University

Pros

-the supervision and clinical case consultation were excellent
-there were professional development opportunities regularly scheduled, both in-house as well as opportunities for training outside the Institute

Cons

The Family Institute is really pressed for space--it's often difficult to get an office (because you're competing with other therapists)

I have been working at Northwestern University full-time for more than 5 years

    Pros

Great benefits, the tuition reimbursement for faculty is generous with a 40% reduction in tuition if your child attends NU, or you can apply that amount to another University.

It is easy to meet incentive goals for bonuses, although the bonus are relatively conservative.

    Cons

The starting salaries for junior faculty are low and not easy to increase salary. bonus is easy to qualify for, but are modest in amount.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

If starting salary is low, increase as faculty develops.

I worked at Northwestern University full-time for more than 3 years

    Pros

Good research opportunities and a generally flexible work environment. The program directors makes a genuine effort to continually improve the graduate student work/life balance. Also, the campus in Evanston is beautiful. A lot of the lab space is very new which makes for a pleasant and comfortable work environment.

    Cons

After your first year, your experience is mostly dependent on the lab you join.
