Doesn't Recommend
Negative Outlook

I have been working at Nottingham Trent University as a contractor (More than a year)

Pros

Reasonable hourly rates, interesting and worthwhile work, intelligent and well-motivated colleagues.

Cons

Management decisions lack transparency and fairness particularly related to allocation of work. No security for hourly paid staff and little willingness to follow the spirit of protective legislation. Definite pressure to inflate grades - giving fail grades, however well deserved, means that hours will be reduced or withdrawn.

Advice to Management

Try to ensure that allocation of work is based upon transparent criteria.

    Positive Outlook

I have been working at Nottingham Trent University full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Good team to work in, with a strong student engagement focus. NTU have a good benefits scheme which you can opt into.

    Cons

NTU has three campuses, which can mean you are not based in the City. Public transport to Clifton campus is only good in term-time.

    Advice to Management

It would be good to have a more recognisable carer progression pathway, although there are Employability Advisers who have become Careers Consultants.

    Positive Outlook

I worked at Nottingham Trent University as an intern

    Pros

An excellent team that offers many training opportunities. A lot of the projects I was involved in were also interesting.

    Cons

The role was very desk based, which didn't suit what I wanted at the time, however it would be a great role for anyone that doesn't mind desk work.

    Advice to Management

Continue pushing placement students to go on training courses and develop their skills. Also, increase the out-of-office opportunities.
