Good people, good work environment, safety is very valued,

    Cons

Not much focus on quality, too many initiatives kicking off, supply chain relies on forecast not demand. HR is working to satisfy the bosses, not the employees.

I worked at Novelis as a contractor (less than an year)

    Pros

It all depends on what area you are working. Novelis outsources a good portion of their IT. The FTE's are knowledgeable and will get the information needed to complete a project when pushed. The team I worked with was supportive and respectful of each other's abilities.

    Cons

Novelis just went live with SAP to their pilot sites. You veteran SAP folks know that this means a lot of change within the organization and Novelis was not immune. Within the ERP group there is little communication as to future plans and management will not look within for advise. Expect to work with a lot of H1-B's and have your daily work interrupted often to explain fundamental details to them. Functional specs are absolutely terrible and the expectation is to just start coding, we'll fix it as we go along. Many of the remaining folks do not know how standard processes work and as a result raise plenty of issues. Documentation is poor.
Within Novelis, it is not what you know but rather who you know. The latest SAP management brought in their personal friends and these friends do not let you forget this. Several of these folks showed up one day and none of their team leads had been notified. This is typical of their management style.
Contract-to-Perm does not exist no matter what your recruiter tells you. This company has had a hiring freeze for close to 6 months and based on how they hemorrhaged money during the implementation, I don't expect that to change any time soon.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Communication is not just lip service. You have a lot of experience and knowledge at your fingertips, make use of it.
