Former Employee - Anonymous Employee  in  Clayton, NC
Former Employee - Anonymous Employee in Clayton, NC

    Pros

Nice building. Some nice people work there.

    Cons

Managers are incompetent and don't help their people develop and progress. The company claims to follow continuous process improvement practices but they're not interested in effective change (and they follow the cLEAN process like robots, not with intelligence). The poor performance of the network costs the company significantly in wasted productivity. The reason people stay so long is that they almost always ONLY hire from within. Thus, they rarely get fresh, talented, recently-educated people where it counts--in leadership positions--so, weaknesses and ruts are perpetuated, plus diversity is a joke. Tools, such as homegrown SOP7, are inadequate and inefficient when state-of-the-art, industry-specific tools are available. And don't forget pay, which is far below average.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Get serious about evaluating (and eliminating) your incompetent middle managers and unprofessional workers who bully their coworkers, because these people are doing a lot of harm: they are dragging your potentially excellent company down. Make it part of your managers' jobs to respect and advance their people so that people don't have to backstab to claw their way up the chain. Ask for and listen to the serious concerns of your workers, because there's a culture of fear: management drops the ball to avoid appearing negative, doing nothing to solve the real day-to-day problems, and throwing their people under the bus to cover themselves.

Current Employee - Process Maintenance Tech  in  Clayton, NC
Current Employee - Process Maintenance Tech in Clayton, NC

    Pros

Great benefits - they put 8% of what you make in your 401 K even if you don't contribute anything. If you put in 2% from your own pocket they bump their contribution to 9%. They start you off with 120 hours of vacation, 40 hours of PTO, and 3 floating holidays. There's a pretty decent gym. There's even a company doctor there two days a week, the list goes on. Also there's a great bunch of people there, some of the best I've ever worked with.

    Cons

Maintenance techs work for the production department, so you'll spend most of your time as a glorified operator. Advancement is sluggish at best, at least on the aseptic side, unless you want to change jobs. Occasionally there are good opportunities to advance to some pretty good engineering tech jobs, and even full fledged engineering jobs, but those are few and far between. If you want to migrate away from tech work into management, there are more opportunities . Salaries are a lower than most pharma jobs in the triangle, and the raises don't keep up with
    inflation.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Try to make the tech jobs more technical and less operator oriented.
