Current Employee - Principal Design Engineer in Pocatello, ID
Current Employee - Principal Design Engineer in Pocatello, ID

I have been working at ON Semiconductor full-time (more than 10 years)

Pros

The people in the trenches are great. The Design teams have been able to design some very difficult chips.

Cons

The pay is nothing to write home about. The benefits used to be great and they are slowly whittling those down to where I could get better benefits working at Costco.

Advice to ManagementAdvice

Stop treating your engineers like they are disposable assets. It is difficult to get people to want to move to Idaho, where there are no other options for employment if things don't go well. You should be working harder to maintain the good engineers you already have here.

Former Employee - Engineering in Gresham, OR

I worked at ON Semiconductor full-time

    Pros

    Nothing really positive to mention.

    Cons

Culture does not promote new ideas, innovation, or cross functional teamwork. Abusive management behavior went unchecked even when brought to the attention of HR department.
They still use pagers and employees are responsible for emptying their own trash as "cost savings" methods.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Management approach needs a complete overhaul from the top down. The dead wood is in middle-management. Clean house here and bring in some new blood to reset priorities and create a positive culture.
