Pros

Well run, steady growth and improvement in products. Good work-life balance. Lots of flexibility to create your own job and take on new responsibilities. Keith Jackson is a great evolutionary CEO who likes to make good incremental improvements in the company and is pursuing growth through acquisition.

Cons

Lack of cutting-edge products, long development times, there can be a lot of office politics, especially in Phoenix. The company is relatively cheap with expenditures and forced vacation and salary cuts are very common. (This could be a positive for shareholders, not so much for employees.)

Advice to Management

Provide substantial monetary incentives to each employee in the product development chain to lower the average cycle time of their part of the design cycle.

    Pros

-If you are 55 and above it is a great place to work because:
    1. Most people are not held accountable
    2. There are probably greater number of slackers than you
    3. Lay offs have reduced in the recent yrs
    4. Good bloated pay checks
    5. Company is surviving because of a few top quality engineers

    Cons

    1. Unqualified people are promoted, making the middle-level management extremely weak
    2. Ass-kissing is a must. If you don't chances are there is no career advancement
    3. Abuse of authority by people who should not have it in the first place
    4. In order to get promoted, one has to be part of the good ol' boy network
    5. Company is so busy with acquisitions they are forgetting to improve in-house existing talent
    6. People do not work as a team or towards a common goal because every employee is rated against others when it comes to performance evaluations (old motorola methods)
    7. Good talent is not appreciated or rewarded (excepting people who follow con #2 mentioned here)

    Advice to Management

    1. Value your engineers
    2. Promote Innovation
As for the rest of the cons mentioned above.....good luck improving those..!!!

    Pros

    1. If you are a part of the "AZ old boys group" you are in else you are out.
    2. This used to be a LSI Logic facility (Silicon Valley Mode) which was great. When ON took over
it was a South West mentality and started seeping in corrupting many.
    3. As long as you have an online degreee from University of Phoenix or some similar fly by night
Online university, you are considered "highly educated".
    4. 9 - 5 job. You dont have to be a go-getter or exhibit "out of the box" thinking.
    5. If you aim low, play second fiddle to the folks from Phoenix you can have a steady job there.

    Cons

    1. Very clannish (Both from AZ and OR). Meaning it is not an EOE org (My personal opinion)
    2. Old-timers in AZ including HR influence hiring decisions. They like to bring their buddies in and
qualified candidates are usually shown the door. The term they use is "Ear Marked for X,Y or Z".
    3. The group in OR is nice & friendly but form theor own tightly integrated community -- if you are
from a differnt culture you are not in. However the AZ group integrate very well with any culture
       which is a +ve.

    Advice to Management

    None.
