I worked at Oakland University full-time (more than 8 years)

    Pros

    Decent living wages and benefits

    Cons

Management in various departments are dysfunctional and unqualified. The old adage of, "To many chiefs, and not enough Indians" is apropos.

Administration is extremely disproportionate compared with its support staff which is grossly inadequate to handle the volume of students, programs, and services the university wishes to offer, and to perform them with well thought-out processes with adequately staffing.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

A cost benefit analysis would illuminate and assist in eliminating excessive monetary waste with the many duplicated departments and programs, excess high-management wages and benefits, increasing more continuity, integrity, staff confidence and lower tuition rates.

Across-the-board implementation of integrating higher technology will eliminate minimal support-staff confined to over-crowed work spaces, stressed by excessive volumes of work, which consequently cause various health issues encompassing contagious upper-respiratory diseases to heart attacks.
