    Pros

There is longevity with most of the employees.

    Cons

The company is very closed minded to new blood and new ideas. You will quickly get nowhere because of the employees who have worked at Oakwood and solely there for all of their career. Management is awful and treats people poorly, they have favorites and play lots of games with the employees they don't like. Definitely not the place to work if you care about your career. I wouldn't refer Oakwood to my biggest enemy as an employee or as a guest.

A great entry-level position w/ learning opps, but career advancement is unlikely and corporate culture is problematic

    Pros

    * For an entry level position, outstanding benefits and salary
    * Every day is a learning experience!
    * You meet lots of new & interesting people
    * Time goes by fast - you never stare at the clock wondering when the day will end
    * You get to help people feel good about their new homes!

    Cons

    * The corporate culture is very stratified -- people in operations and home services are basically peons, doing most of the dirty work while management and senior NACs take credit for the results
    * "Team-based" office environment is actually cut throat and highly competitive.
    * Virtually no opportunity for promotional or career growth -- this company is centralizing its operations in Phoenix, AZ and local jobs are disappearing fast. Multiple senior employees (with 20 + years experience each) have recently been laid off to cut costs and new employees have been hired to do twice the amount of work at lower wages.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

There is a lack of transparency about the future of Oakwood. People in places of power and stability are making decisions that are destroying the lives of lower-ranked employees who have nonetheless devoted themselves to the company for decades. Those who are earning promotions and moving up are getting there not by merit, but by sycophantic brown nosing. Members of management are decent people, but they frequently neglect their responsibilities and pass dirty jobs onto lower sales and operations. I appreciate this company's commitment to strong customer service, but I feel it's just important for a company to treat its employees kindly and fairly.
