Occidental Petroleum – “Occidental, great projects, great workers, but management needs some work.”

Pros

Projects are interesting to work on, work teams are effectively utilized. A variety of assignments are available and relocations are available. Professional development is encouraged of the staff and readily available. Salary and bonuses are average within the larger companies of the oil and gas industry but usually lag the smaller independents.

Cons

Senior management is not cognizant of employee contributions and is self serving. Some locations are not that desirable and management needs to compensate for that. Organizational development needs some work at this organization.

Advice to Senior Management

Quit the closed door policy and mentality, the company is a success because of the workers not senior management.
Its hard to screw up assets that are of the quality that OXY owns.
