I have been working at Ochsner Health System

Pros

Job security is good. Most of the staff is friendly and easy to get along with. Most are team players.

Cons

Ochsner practically has a monopoly on the New Orleans Metropolitan Area and therefore, controls the pay rate in this region. They tend to pay dramatically less than what they should. People pretty much go along with this pay because they own 7 of the 11 hospital. And 2 of the remaining are in negotiation to be operated possibly by Ochsner.

Advice to ManagementAdvice

Spend time in the department in which you are making rules in before making those rules and regulations active. it could be surprising to find that there are better practical solutions rather than what appears would work on paper.

I have been working at Ochsner Health System full-time (more than 10 years)

    Pros

The non-management personnel are friendly and genuinely seem to care.

    Cons

It's not uncommon to have multiple supervisors, managers, and directors attempting to dictate your work. Seldom are they ever on the same page, nor do they seem to understand the repercussions of their poorly designed plans.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Stop putting up roadblocks within workflow processes.
Stop blocking employees from trying to advance.
Allow the employees the freedom to do the great job they so desperately want to do.
Pay your staff like you're not the only game in town.
