Former Employee - Sales Associate in Lilburn, GA

    Pros

    -----------------------------
-Very nice start job for people getting into retail
-From store to store, the management varies. But it is always fair.
-Compensation for up-selling ink and protection
-Each department is easy to learn and seeking help through their store hotline is very good
    -----------------------------

    Cons

    -----------------------------
-All employees hired on part-time start at the very bottom of minimum wage
-Copy and Print department can be hectic sometimes
-Learning is on a need to know basis. I learned more from employees than my managers.
-Constantly changing policies within the store. (Ex. How you greet a customer and customer focus only during certain hours of the day)
    -----------------------------

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Quit changing your employee policies. I know the company is not headed in the best direction right now, but could you back off on how employees do their job? The customer is priority. With that being said, there is a point where you are just starting to bug people when it is the same employee harassing if you need help. Other than that, I think the company is well off where it is now.

    Pros

If you need to take a job such as call center work when no other options are available Office Depot is a fair choice.

    Cons

I find call center work to be annoying in the first place even though outwardly I act like a 'happy employee' I think Office Depot should give 'mini-breaks' of 2 five minute optional breaks per shift in addition to the standard break given on high calls in que days-one consecutive call after another with no pause to keep up with order entry goals made me feel like I couldn't catch my breath and relax especially if the caller was angry. We were able to disconnect to leave our desk but still...

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

A few more breaks for those high volume days would have been nice!
