I worked at Office Depot full-time (more than an year)

Pros

Good Company Culture, Great Co-Workers, Nice Facility, Good Work-Life Balance

Cons

Disorganization, No Clear or Consistent Messaging as to Expectations and Goals, Too Many Out of Date Programs and Processes, Too Many Incapable Managers, Pay and Bonuses Misrepresented, Micromanaged Call Center Environment

Advice to ManagementAdvice

Invest in your people and promote from within. Stop the smoke and mirror games regarding the upcoming merger. Be honest about pay, expectations, and potential for advancement, or lack thereof. And get your sales force their annual sales quota before the third quarter!

I have been working at Office Depot full-time (more than 10 years)

    Pros

Was a lot more of them when I started working 15 years ago and watched things go down from there.

    Cons

Test when you wish to bring new technology in to help make our jobs better. we were issues 5 mobile devices and withing 2 months, if it was that long, had to get 4 of them replaced and waiting on doing another again until we get the one out back.

Micromanaging to where you have x minutes to get his done and even if it takes x+1 you will get spoken to, who cares if you were helping customers like the company wants you to to cause that.

Having to watch the clock because having overtime is now a punishable offense even if it is only 1 minute.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Go back to where you had more then 5 employees working at any one time, watch how much easier things get done when one person is not juggling 5 things and not able to complete most of them, because oh wait here comes yet another directive from corporate that has to be done immediately forget everything else you have already micromanaged in through the "day in the life" book

It is difficult to work hard and be loyal to a company that does'nt care about its employees.

I have been working at Office Depot full-time (more than 10 years)

    Pros

Although it is a retail store. It is not like working at Wal Mart or Target, much calmer.

    Cons

i feel Corp management is out of touch with the everyday issues and running of a location. They expect way too much from management and employees that are not given the proper tools or pay to succeed.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Stop with the unrealistic expectations just because it looks good on paper. When you cut corners and hurt the people that build your brand and company, you eventually hurt yourself.
