I have been working at OfficeMax full-time for more than 3 years

Pros

Flexible hours, decent pay, a corporate office that tries to be there for associates.

Cons

retail, bonuses seem to be paid out slowly, they sometimes don't tell you things till last minute.

Advice to ManagementAdvice

better communication at corporate level to make sure things are rolled out properly. More advertisement for ctrl center services. Change goals to a store by store basis.

I have been working at OfficeMax full-time for less than a year

    Pros

Overall its a pretty good job. Its a job and not a career though.

    Cons

I think they should pay the associates more. We do a lot more than walmart associates as far as customer service wise, and to pay just barely over minimum wage is crazy. Sales specialist are pushed very hard to meet numbers and our metrics. ......

Former Employee - Anonymous Employee in Naperville, IL

I worked at OfficeMax full-time for more than 5 years

    Pros

There is a lot of potential for the future, since the company is currently ranked third behind SPLS and ODP ...

    Cons

... Whether OMX transforms its strategies into a position where it can beat out ODP for the number 2 spot is yet to be seen. Analysts have been speculating a merger between OMX and ODP for years, so that's always a possibility, too.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Create clear, concise strategies that employees can get behind and take an ownership stake in.
