Former Employee - Assistant Store Manager in Columbus, OH

I worked at OfficeMax full-time (more than 3 years)

Pros

The people I worked with and the customers made it worth while most of the time.

Cons

Too many pots on the stove, OfficeMax wanted to offer everything but nothing 100%, from less then perfect Control Center to cheap, horrible canvas wraps. Too many focuses and too much money spent on things other than really increasing business.

Advice to ManagementAdvice

Too many managers hired and promoted before their time.

I worked at OfficeMax full-time (more than 3 years)

    Pros

Some flexibility with schedule and ability to manage my team.

    Cons

Never received annual review or increase upon returning from maternity leave like all other employees did. Boss regularly made me come into office even though it was approved for me to work from home. I had to find child care in a rush which was horrible. I also worked on maternity leave as I was salaried and was not compensated.
