Pros

Strong management. Lots of opportunities to work on varying accounts -- consumer, tech and corporate (lots of tech in the San Francisco office) so this is a great place to learn the PR business or to progress in your career. There are also opportunities to move between different Ogilvy PR offices around the U.S.

Cons

You need to want to work hard -- but this is true for anybody starting out in a professional career. This is not a 9am-5pm job!

Advice to Management

Keep doing what you are doing!

Hear it from someone who survived 12-hour workdays, difficult clients and diva media for 4 years!

    Pros

Excellent training and experience - When you handle an account, you do everything (client-servicing, media relations and copywriting), so you learn and ideally master all the areas of public relations. If you can handle Ogilvy PR and its top-caliber clients, you can handle anything.

    Cons

Very poor work-life balance - the work day is typically 12 hours and you will always have events on weeknights/weekends that you do not get paid overtime for.

    Advice to Management

It is critical that you know what your employee's ambitions are and you help them achieve their goals - without support and understanding, people will not want to stay and work with you. Motivation is key - their success is ultimately your success.

  2. Great company culture but don't be afraid of hard work

    Pros

Smart people, great team work and company culture. Hard work as with most agencies, but some good compensation (time in lieu), flexible working, birthday leave, loyalty leave. Excellent training programs

    Cons

Can be long hours - definitely not a 9-5 career choice. You'll learn a lot so if you don't want to challenge yourself or work hard, this agency is not for you. Some leaders are better than others. Some clients are also better than others! YOu can burn out quickly with the wrong ones.

    Advice to Management

Ensuring feedback from all employees is listening to - ask the boss sessions - find out what they really think and what's most important. Ensure people are treated equally.
