I have been working at Ogilvy & Mather full-time for more than a year

Pros

Spectacular view and very comfortable office environment with up to date technology. Great location that makes working here a plus. Most employees have great attitudes and are for the most part good people.

Cons

Big office politics drive down morale and destroy culture. Too many bosses make it very difficult to get the job done while constant micro management interfere with good thinking. Constant layoffs, low salaries and reactionary leadership create friction amongst all employees. No room to grow or advance in your career.

Advice to ManagementAdvice

Change needs to happen from the top down, senior leadership and middle management are destroying the office from within.

I have been working at Ogilvy & Mather full-time for more than a year

    Pros

Nice new building. On-site fitness center. Excellent cafeteria. Roof-top deck. Several employee groups and regular events.

    Cons

Location is far from mass transit, undefined salary/review/promotion structure. Favoritism abounds. Many high-level managers getting by with "just enough" work mentality. Extremely long hours and low pay for junior staff, especially women and minorities.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Move from the old "creative" environment. Hire a top-notch COO and establish best practices, especially with managing human resources. Embrace and implement diversity practices and merit based promotions/pay increases. More diverse creative department critical.

I worked at Ogilvy & Mather as an intern for less than a year

    Pros

The atmosphere on the creative floor of Ogilvy New York was as energetic as it gets. I loved working there for that reason.

    Cons

A lot of people left Ogilvy within the few months that I interned there. People come and go so quickly that it's hard to build relationships.
