I have been working at Ogilvy & Mather as an intern (less than an year)

    Pros

    Great people and atmosphere.
Ability to engage and interact with upper management
Lunch & Learn program to gain more insight on each department

    Cons

Poorly constructed internship program- often management did not have work for interns to do
Supervisors seemed to be told at the last minute that they would be receiving an intern and thus did not have work prepared and we unsure how to properly utilize interns

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Rotational program to expose interns to all areas of the company may be best
Provide supervisors with amble time to prepare for an intern so that the intern and supervisor can gain the most from the experience

I have been working at Ogilvy & Mather full-time (more than an year)

    Pros

If you are not in Marketing or planning : its very laid back job so lots of time for yourself ; people are alright not much political except senior management; you can drink while at work ; wear anything; benefits are fine ; good company to join if you are in late 30s and after....; work and life balance is good except in Marketing;. Planning department varies. Usually you will be doing lots of work. Marketing and Planning are good to start your career here.

Overall chill company. So join it if you are getting a good salary in your role and you don't want to learn cross functionally or if u r pretty experienced and have kids (For Non marketing poeple).... ((Note : in general: Big companies always kind of least flexible with cross functional work. They create separate departments for that. So you should know what department you are working for. ))

    Cons

    a) No career growth mostly in all departments except Marketing or Planning
    b) If you are in finance; IT; accounting then don't join this company
    c) If you are in creative, use it as a Name on the resume. It is not creative at all in North america. Ogilyy is more creative in Europe/Asia/South America. So work for an year at most and do leave.
    d) It is good place to start your career in Marketing; you will be working 10-12 hours easily everyday...but thts why its good....
    e) This company do not increase salary every year at all. The increase on an average is once in 5 years. Some departments it could increase once in 3 years..So don't expect any raise in salary before 3 years
    f) The company is not doing well in the year 2012 and 2013...
    g) The Rotation program is good here....

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

    a) You are every traditional in management and the very fact that as marketing and advertiusing industry, we are the first ones who bring new ideas everywhere. So Change your old school strategy;vision; tactics
    b) Move away from David Ogilvy. The Ogilvy outside North America don't believe him, The Creatives don't follow him
    c) Reduce your bonuses when company is not well.
    d) Do something; don't be lazy.

    Doesn't Recommend
    Negative Outlook
    No opinion of CEO
