Olan Mills Employee Review
Olan Mills – “Not what I expected.”

You get to take photographs. That's it.
You'd think this would be a plus for aspiring photographers, but it's only beneficial if you want to continue to work in a portrait studio setting.
Cons
Crazy, frantic work environment with few breaks and no water allowed.
Being expected to manipulate people into buying way more than they originally wanted to buy. An image is a powerful things, especially when it's of someone's children, and you'll probably feel a little dirty trying to convince people to throw down more money than they can afford to pay.
Management will probably warn you that it's not okay to take sick days (this is because they're understaffed and can't get people to stay with the company).
Did I mention the pay is abysmal for the amount of work and training they require of you? You can bend over backwards for this overwhelming job for multiple years while making only a few cents to a dollar over minimum wage.
Advice to Senior Management
Figure out why people keep leaving and give them some incentive to stay, whether it's annual paid vacation, higher wages, more staff at each location (so that employees can actually take bathroom and water breaks or maybe even a sick day and not fear the consequences), or a more organized system. I think it's reasonable to ask for a huge, profiting company to be a little kinder to the employees who are breaking their backs to support it.
