I worked at Old Mutual full-time (more than an year)

Pros

Many nice people – especially the more recent joiners

Cons

Clichés and fiefdoms connected by their length of service, rather than value, competency or effectiveness.

Decision making by committee or collective – no one wants to be accountable for a decision.

Advice to ManagementAdvice

Stop shuffling and promoting the same old bunch of people around

A leaderless company that doesn't have a vision or know to manage itself in advance of problems.

    I worked at Old Mutual

    Pros

Being employed is better than being unemployed. Responsibilities are delegated, and compensation was fair. The company does maintain a strong balance sheet.

    Cons

The failure of leadership means your job is at high risk of developing into a past position as they lay people off to compensate for their failures.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Get a vision and treat people with respect.
Don't rely on direct reports to tell you what is going on. The issues underneath them are severe and known to the staff's. They could tell you how to fix them before you sell the subsidiary and fire everyone.
    Treat people fairly.
