Poor Decision

Server (Current Employee)
Decatur, IL

I have been working at Olive Garden Italian Restaurants part-time for less than a year

ProsThe company is set up with it's employees in mind. It offers a lot of good things. Insurance, help to it's employees who are in need. Good training. The food is good, and the standards are high. If the individual restaurants were ran according to plan, this would be a great place to work

ConsIn this location, the management staff, save one, talk down to the team members. Different rules for different team members, Team work is only reciprocated by a select few for a select few, everyone else has to fend for themselves, This is the first restaurant I have ever worked in, where the managers do not go out on the floor and greet guests. The only time they are on the floor is if there is an issue. I hear other servers talking, so I know it isn't just me, tips are generally small. Not what one would expect from this type of restaurant. Coming here to work was a poor decision on my part.

Advice to Senior ManagementSpeak to your team members like they are grown ups and not naughty children. You hire grown ups, treat them accordingly. Go out into your dining room and say hello to your guests. You are here to insure that all goes well, not to watch a train wreck and then assign blame.

No, I would not recommend this company to a friend

Good people, poor management, and terrible shifts

Server (Former Employee)
Reno, NV

I worked at Olive Garden Italian Restaurants full-time for less than a year

Pros: There is alot of support and the menu is exceptionally… Cons: 4 split shifts a week that were random with up to 3 hours… Advice to Senior Management: Servers may be a dime a dozen, but that does… Yes, I would recommend this company to a friend More

It was an alright transition job

Server (Former Employee)
Logan, UT

I worked at Olive Garden Italian Restaurants part-time for more than a year

Pros: -easily switch/pick-up/get rid of shifts -potential to earn a decent amount… Cons: -poor management -"the customer is always right" mentality among managers. This leads to employees being punished for stupid things caused by the customer. -never knew how… Advice to Senior Management: -listen to your employees -the customer is NOT always right -recognize all… No, I would not recommend this company to a friend More
