I have been working at Olive Garden Italian Restaurants part-time (Less than a year)

Pros

The company is set up with it's employees in mind. It offers a lot of good things. Insurance, help to it's employees who are in need. Good training. The food is good, and the standards are high. If the individual restaurants were ran according to plan, this would be a great place to work

Cons

In this location, the management staff, save one, talk down to the team members. Different rules for different team members, Team work is only reciprocated by a select few for a select few, everyone else has to fend for themselves, This is the first restaurant I have ever worked in, where the managers do not go out on the floor and greet guests. The only time they are on the floor is if there is an issue. I hear other servers talking, so I know it isn't just me, tips are generally small. Not what one would expect from this type of restaurant. Coming here to work was a poor decision on my part.

Advice to Management

Speak to your team members like they are grown ups and not naughty children. You hire grown ups, treat them accordingly. Go out into your dining room and say hello to your guests. You are here to insure that all goes well, not to watch a train wreck and then assign blame.

I worked at Olive Garden Italian Restaurants part-time (More than a year)

    Pros

-easily switch/pick-up/get rid of shifts -potential to earn a decent amount on weekends -pretty easy job

    Cons

-poor management -"the customer is always right" mentality among managers. This leads to employees being punished for stupid things caused by the customer. -never knew how long your shift would be. If it was a slow day you'd be sent home. -very unsteady pay -management doesn't recognize the employees enough for good performance

    Advice to Management

-listen to your employees -the customer is NOT always right -recognize all employees, not just the ones that suck up to you

I worked at Olive Garden Italian Restaurants part-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

Usually fast paced, never bored. Good atmosphere to work in for the most part. Very outcome oriented. Guests usually seem satisfied, and this in turn makes the job rearding.

    Cons

Managers and wait staff don't acknowledge bussers unless something goes wrong. On any given day, you might make a decent chunk of change, or you might make so little it isn't worth your time. Usually the latter.

    Advice to Management

Acknowledge bussers outside of yelling at them to fix a server's mess. A little bit of gratitude goes a long way.
