Pros

good work enviornment, very good people, excellent products and support for customers, compensation is reasonable, recently improved benefits, good atomosphere

Cons

company is run by their HR department, company is slow to make decisions, benefits still lagging behind other leading companies,

Advice to ManagementAdvice

become more flexible when hiring and promoting, allow managers and working personnel to make desicions, remove HR from some decision making

    I have been working at Olympus Corporation of the Americas

    Pros

    Good People, Great Products and Customers, Nice corporate headquarters, Good vacation and salary. Great opportunity to have an impact. Nice social responsibility programs.

    Cons

    Olympus is a Japanese company but they should hire Americans to run the business in America. There are too many Japanese in key senior business leadership roles. Why can't they find Americans to run the busineses (including their acquisitions)? Also, not competitive this year with merit increases and the 401K match.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

    If you are not comfortable promoting any of your current employees into leadeship roles, invest in hiring some outside talent for your key business leadership roles in the US. As the economy improves, reconsider compensation and retirement strategies. Be a company that emphasizes work life balance.
