I worked at One Economy

Pros

You will get incredible hands-on opportunities, be able to design and manage projects, and have the opportunity to travel to some incredible places. If you do a good job, you'll have a real shot at enabling communities to access the information they need to break out of poverty. You'll be able to drive long-term strategy for the organization if you have solid ideas and go after them (as well as the funding for them).

Cons

There are few policies in place, and you will lack the kind of support from a larger firm. You will do a lot of fundraising and proposal development.

Advice to ManagementAdvice

Continue supporting the young people as you do. Aim high for long-term growth and develop partnerships with larger organizations for bigger contracts.

    Pros

There are some really quality people here. The atmosphere is of kindness and respect. The mission is great, and the passion people put into it is amazing.

    Cons

The management team is full of talented, bright, and driven people, but they are not consistently trained or interested in career development or morale of the team. Management appears to spend too much energy on feelings/territory within management (politics).

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

It is not micro-managing to learn what your team is doing, who is doing it well, and who is not.

Also - there is such passion and talent here. Narrow the focus, clarify the vision, and let the talent thrive.
